Created in March 2021, the startup, SWEETECH, is breaking new ground in the production of rare sugars with health applications.
Transfer project
As part of its support, Toulouse Tech Transfer mobilised all its business skills. Involved throughout the maturation process, TTT identified and safeguarded the invention with the help of its intellectual property department, in particular through patents. The SATT has also invested in the technical development and TRL ramp-up.
The company
Sweetech is a deeptech start-up born of our passion for biotechnology and sugars. This is a family of under-exploited molecules with a plethora of applications in the nutraceuticals, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals sectors, which already represent huge, fast-growing markets. However, the vast majority of sugar structures are still unavailable, due to a lack of economically viable synthesis processes.
Sweetech has developed a patented platform technology for innovative, environmentally-friendly and low-cost production through fermentation. This breakthrough technology means that we are the only company to offer a very large number of new sugars (oligosaccharides) on an industrial scale, with major potential for health applications.
