Unique research promotion support
At Toulouse Tech Transfer, we know how much research can boost innovation for businesses and startups. However, there are pitfalls to be avoided.
Ranging from diagnostics to development, our comprehensive research promotion support allows you to move your projects forward with peace of mind, at your own pace.
Diagnostic phase
Diagnostics represent a key stage in our research promotion support, and are used to identify potential applications and target markets. They help draw up a suitable strategy to transfer these scientific discoveries into concrete innovations.
How does it work?
At TTT, the project manager communicates with the research team to understand their invention, its technology, and how to describe it. This information will be recorded in a Preliminary Invention Form (PIF).
This simplified document provides the first basis for setting up a protection and promotion strategy, in concert with the institutions with which the laboratory is affiliated.
Once this stage is complete, our experts assess the feasibility of the project and confirm its transfer potential by studying certain aspects:
- Intellectual property: overview and analysis of protectable subject matter
- Overview and application aim of the invention

Protect a result
How can I protect my result ?
Mandated by companies, TTT analyses research results with a view to drawing up the most suitable protection strategy to transfer them to the socio-economic sector. Intellectual property is a toolbox overflowing with many protection channels and the objective is to use these tools wisely to boost the value of your results.
For inventions, TTT studies their patentability and sets up their patent protection by handling all the relevant procedures and costs. For other results (software, know-how, etc.), the SATT dates them to record their existence and their holders.
Tip
Any disclosure, even verbal, before a patent is filed is considered anteriority and can no longer be filed. Therefore, before presenting research results and publishing, the following question must always be asked: are any results patentable?
Developing an innovative project
The TTT maturation project: derisking and accelerating transfer.
With substantial state funding, TTT invests by providing resources: the human, technical and financial resources needed to complete maturation programmes in concert with research laboratories and businesses.
Thanks to a team of experts dedicated to research promotion support made available for each project, TTT simplifies and accelerates the process.
With us, the investment decision is made quickly, and the business has a single point of contact.
After the maturation programme, the business may continue to integrate the technology in its products or services, under a licensing arrangement, the financial terms of which will have been decided beforehand.

Specific support programmes

Resulting from the coming together of national and regional partners, experts in ASD and in Deep Tech startup creation (university institutions, national organisations, SATTs, regional incubators and accelerators), the mission of the Lanceur d'Étoiles programme is to launch and accelerate startups addressing major challenges in the Aeronautics, Space and Defence sector.
The programme is co-built using an individualised approach aimed at providing personalised support and tailored tools to guide project development. Each of the 11 partners plays a role linked with their areas of expertise in the main phases of support: training, legal, strategic, economic advice, technological derisking assistance, connection and meetings with investors.
The programme supports:
- ASD project leaders from laboratories of national organisations or university institutions (University of Toulouse)
- Employee from the business realm seeking to lead an ASD startup project
- CEOs or founding teams of ASD startups being founded or already founded.
Seven projects are currently receiving support through the programme.

Thanks to support from UT Innovation (University Innovation Cluster), Toulouse Tech Transfer offers Doc d’Occitanie, a support programme for PhD students or early-career post-docs whose thesis is on a subject with economic value creation potential that may lead to transfer to an existing or future company.
For successful candidates, Toulouse Tech Transfer offers a personalised and professionalising programme focused on:
- awareness of technology transfer
- analysing the economic potential of thesis results
- Intellectual Property advice
- and entrepreneurship support
After the thesis, Toulouse Tech Transfer may also invest in the project through a maturation programme, hiring the early-career post-doc.

Testimonial from Nina Gazal

“Growing awareness around climate imbalance and humanity’s responsibility in this process prompted me to reflect on my own contribution to society. Very quickly, I was able to see the benefit of fungi and therefore of mycelium in supporting awareness around environmental issues towards the implementation of more sustainable solutions. From this observation, alongside my thesis, the startup creation project, Mycelium Concept, emerged. This project has matured remarkably thanks to the valuable support from Toulouse Tech Transfer under the @Doc D'Occitanie programme.”
